4 Day Christmas Break

Friday 23rd to Monday 26th December 2022

There’s many highlights to this four day Christmas break staying at the Dalby Parkview Motel.
Day 1 – Today is all about seeing how families and workers lived and survived in the remote areas of Queensland during the early days of settlement. Heading south west the Christmas Sleigh is destined for Jimbour Homestead. In 1875 a vision sprung from the plains – ornate French doors, Tuscan columns, wide Queensland verandahs and a roof forged from Welsh slate. Everything about Jimbour’s main residence surprises, delights and intrigues. The construction draws you in but the stories of these walls keep you captivated with every step. After our guided tour and lunch at Jimbour House, we make our way to the Pioneer Museum at Dalby. At the end of a very interesting day it is time to head to our accommodation in Dalby. Here you can unpack and settle in for three nights— no packing and unpacking each day.
Day 2 – After a hearty breakfast it’s back on board your coach ready to get lost in a subtropical range rainforest and make friends with a South Burnett winemaker. This morning spend some time amongst the spectacular wilderness of the “Bunya Mountains”. You have the opportunity to go for a leisurely stroll, have a cuppa at the café (own expense) or if they are around enjoy a horse & buggy ride (own expense). Afterwards we make our way to Kingsley Grove Estate for an insight into the winemaking process with a tour of the winery, then lunch on their lovely property. Lunch will consist of wood-fired pizzas, salads and their famous wine ice-cream.  After a day of touring it is time to head back to our base camp in Dalby.
Day 3 – Merry Christmas!  Enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch at the Russell Tavern in Dalby. During the afternoon you may even like to walk off Christmas lunch by taking a leisurely stroll through the gardens of Thomas Jack Park.
Day 4 – It’s sad to say but all good things must come to an end. Today we bid farewell to our hosts in Dalby and wind our way back to the Fraser Coast. Stop along the way at Cooyar for morning tea. While here up might be brave enough to take the walk across the Swinging Bridge! Our last stop of the day will be for lunch stop at the Montville Pub, before heading home to the Fraser Coast.
There’s something for everyone to enjoy on this Christmas break so book now and let Wide Bay Transit take the stress out of Christmas!
